PFAS Services
Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a large family of man-made organic compounds, including more than 4,000 manufactured fluorinated organic chemicals used since the 1940s. PFAS are used in Class B firefighting foams such as aqueous film forming foam (AFFF). Therefore, firefighting foam, is recognised to be one of the main sources of PFAS loss to the environment, impacting the ground and groundwater. This is in particular associated with military bases, airports, facilities handling flammable materials, fire stations and fire training grounds.
EnviroSolution can provide site investigation, assessment and remediation services for PFAS impacted sites. We work closely with our clients and the regulators to ensure all requirements are met (financial and regulatory). We use our vast experience in contaminated land assessments and ground remediation to provide investigations, assessments and remediation options which are fit for purpose.
Due to the scale of work involved in investigating PFAS impacted ground and the scientific complexity, external expertise and support is required. The challenges in assessing and remediating PFAS impacted ground and groundwater include:
- Source identification
- Contamination management during groundworks
- Waste disposal of PFAS contaminated soil and groundwater
