Ground Investigation at Benbecula Airport Fuel Storage Compound - EnviroSolution case study
The Project

The Project

In September 2023, EnviroSolution was engaged by Loganair to assess potential ground contamination at a disused jet-fuel storage compound within Benbecula Airport. The investigation was required to establish whether historic fuel storage had affected the ground and to inform decommissioning requirements.

The Challenge

The Challenge

The work needed to delineate any contamination associated with the former fuel-storage use while working within an operational airport environment.

The Solution

The Solution

EnviroSolution mobilised within one week and completed a targeted soil-sampling investigation using trial pits across the compound. Representative soil samples were analysed for a suite of chemical contaminants to clarify the nature and extent of any impact.

The Benefit

The Benefit

An interpretive report provided Loganair with clear conclusions and recommendations for remedial requirements, supporting informed decommissioning and remediation decisions.
