CDOIF environmental risk assessment supporting the five-yearly update of Unilever's COMAH Safety Report at Port Sunlight.
The Project
EnviroSolution was appointed by Unilever to support the five-yearly update of its COMAH Safety Report by reviewing and updating the environmental risk assessment in line with the Chemical and Downstream Oil Industries Forum (CDOIF) methodology.
The Challenge
Following review of the Safety Report, the Competent Authority requested that the site's existing environmental risk assessment was updated and specific comments addressed.
The Solution
EnviroSolution completed an Environmental Receptors Review, Environmental Hazard Review, Consequence Level Assessment and updates to the relevant COMAH documentation. A Phase 1 environmental risk assessment was completed in accordance with the CDOIF approach and the Competent Authority comments were addressed.
The Benefit
The work was completed within the agreed timescales and confirmed that no further detailed Phase 2 quantitative risk assessment, cost-benefit analysis or review of existing risk-reduction measures was required.
