Integrated Site Assessment for a Former Vehicle Repair Garage - EnviroSolution case study
The Project

The Project

EnviroSolution was contacted by LCC Group to complete a Phase 1 Desktop Study and Phase 2 Intrusive Site Investigation for a former vehicle repair garage. The wider scope also included ground-gas and groundwater monitoring, infiltration testing, geotechnical investigation, acoustics and drainage input.

The Challenge

The Challenge

The project combined potential contamination, foundation suitability, drainage and noise considerations, with the proposed development intended for unmanned 24-hour use.

The Solution

The Solution

The Phase 1 identified potential on-site and off-site contamination sources. Phase 2 exploratory holes showed visual and olfactory evidence of contamination, leading to a delineation investigation. Soils were separated and the majority were demonstrated to be non-hazardous. EnviroSolution also prepared a remediation strategy accepted by the Local Authority, provided waste-classification and verification input, and supported acoustic and drainage design work.

The Benefit

The Benefit

The integrated approach coordinated multiple surveys in sequence, reduced duplication and helped control disposal costs by demonstrating that most excavated soils were non-hazardous. The overall scope was managed to meet the client's programme.
