The Project

EnviroSolution was commissioned by Corby Power to assess land owned by Tata Steel that had previously accommodated an above-ground pipeline used to transport diesel oil. Before the pipeline was installed, the route had also been occupied by railway sidings. The assessment was required before the redundant infrastructure was removed and the land reinstated.

The investigation needed to distinguish any contamination associated with the former diesel pipeline from the site's earlier industrial and railway history.

The Solution

The Solution

A Geo-Environmental Engineer completed an intrusive ground investigation and collected representative soil samples along the pipeline route. Samples were analysed by a UKAS-accredited laboratory for Diesel Range Organics and interpreted using TPH Criteria Working Group standards. The results indicated low-level contamination dominated by heavier-end hydrocarbons rather than evidence of diesel loss from the pipeline.

Rapid mobilisation and clear interpretation allowed Corby Power and Tata Steel to proceed with greater confidence. The findings reduced uncertainty around remediation requirements and supported the planned infrastructure removal.
