M65 Rock Face Stability Assessment - EnviroSolution case study
The Project

The Project

EnviroSolution was contacted by BDB Special Projects Ltd to assess the stability of a rock-face section alongside the eastbound M65 between junctions 7 and 8 in Lancashire.

The Challenge

The Challenge

The assessment had to combine geological and historical review with safe fieldwork beside a live motorway during night shifts.

The Solution

The Solution

The team completed a desktop review of geological, historical and relevant guidance information. EnviroSolution geologists and engineers then collected field data and observations over five consecutive nights. The final report included kinematic analysis, identified three main areas of concern and recommended suitable stabilisation measures.

The Benefit

The Benefit

EnviroSolution coordinated the project and multiple teams while working within strict motorway safety requirements. The report provided a practical evidence base for future decisions on stabilising the rock slope.
