EnviroSolution was commissioned by Sandway Homes Ltd to assess potential noise affecting a proposed residential development at Browns Lane, Bootle. The assessment was prepared to accompany the planning application for redevelopment of the former Bootle High School site.

The Challenge

Future residents could be affected by road traffic on Browns Lane and by commercial or industrial uses opposite the site, during both daytime and night-time periods.

The Solution

The Solution

A 24-hour unattended noise measurement survey was completed at the site boundary closest to the road and commercial uses. The measurements were used to characterise and quantify the noise environment and inform a desk-based noise impact assessment.

The Benefit

The measured data enabled suitable noise-mitigation measures to be specified for protection of residential amenity for future occupants.
